Some: Options are pretty much the same as you would use with children. Cold is often soothing so ice pops can help. Ibuprofen will help for more severe pain. In all cases keeping the area around erupting teeth clean will decrease chances of infection. If the pain worsens see a dentist for an evaluation.

See your dentist: At 46, you must be erupting your 3rd set of molars or wisdom teeth. Topical anesthetics such as orajel and anti-inflammatory medication such as aleve, (naproxen) may help. But at your age you need to visit your dentist and have an x-ray to determine where these teeth. Most often, they need to be extracted.
