An office or opt : A breast biopsy is usually done at a medical office or breast care facility by a breast or general surgeon. It is also commonly performed by a breast radiologist as outpatient in a hospital or a mammography facility. The standard of care is to do an image guided needle biopsy. On rare occasions an open surgical biopsy may have to be done in an operating room or surgery center.

Breast imaging ctr: The vast majority of our breast biopsies are performed at our breast imaging center by a radiologist specially trained in breast imaging and evaluation. Depending on the results, the patient is then scheduled to see a variety of other practitioners including breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and genetic counselors.
