Blepharoplasty: In general, eyelid surgery entails removal of a small amount of skin and fat in the eyelids. The incision in the upper eyelid is placed in a natural crease and blends well. In the lower lid, the incision is hidden just below the lashes. In cases when no skin needs to be removed from the lower lid, the incision can be made inside the lower eyelid.

Skin, Muscle, & Fat: Cosmetic eyelid surgery is a popular procedure to reduce the signs of aging. For the upper eyelid, a small amount of skin is removed. Occasionally, minimal fat or muscle is removed. Upper eyelid surgery may be performed in the office via local anesthesia. Lower eyelid surgery removes and readjusts a variable amount of skin, muscle, and fat. Iv or "twilight" anesthesia is required for this area.
