Do your homework: Cosmetic eyelid surgery is very different from surgery to correct droopy lids (ptosis). Make sure that your provider is either a plastic surgeon, oculoplastic or facial plastic surgeon who is familiar with performing ptosis surgery if that is your case. It is also recommended to find out if they are board certified by an abms recognized specialty.

Not really.: The surgery should be safe and predictable. If you have a qualified doctor, the proper workup has been performed, the proper precautions are being taken and the procedure is being performed in the proper setting, you should feel safe. Preop anxiety is normal, but if you are very afraid, talk with your surgeon. The procedure is elective.
