What's pulpitis (dentistry)?

Inflammation: Pulpitis is the inflammation of the pulp, or nerve of the tooth. There are two types, reversible and irreversible. With reversible, it means the nerve can heal. With irreversible pulpitis, a root canal to remove the nerve is necessary to correct the problem.

"Root Canal" : Trauma, bacteria from gum disease and/or tooth decay can cause inflammation of the "pulp" or the nerves and blood vessels inside the tooth. If the source is removed, the tooth may heal wtihout further incident. If the tooth is infected, it should be treated by removal or dental treatment ('root canal treatment")-- you should ask your dentist which is best for you.

Nerve inflammation: The inside of the tooth contains blood vessels and nerve tissue. Pulpitis is caused by inflation of these tissues due to a variety of potential insults.

Inflammation: Pulpitis is inflammation of the pulp. It can be reversible or irreversible. If irriversible, the tooth vitality - living blood vessels/nerves- cannot survive and they die and breakdown. This usually leads to an abscess if left undiagnosed and untreated. A root canal procedure can be done to remove all the diseased and non-vital (dead) tissue and seal the root. Then the tooth can be restored.

Inflammation: There are 2 kinds of inflammation of the vital tissue (pulp) inside the tooth, both called pulpitis. One is reversible -- that is the tooth pulp (blood vessels and nerve tissue) can heal after this condition. The other is irreversible -- the tissue cannot heal, and will die and produce breakdown products. You need this cleaned out to save the tooth ( root canal treatment ).

Inflammation: Inside the tooth is nerve and blood vessel tissue., called pulpal tissue. We commonly just call it the nerve or pulp. When it is traumatized, it can become inflamed, and you feel pain. Reversible puplitis means that the tissue can heal and the pain will go away. Irreversible pulpitis means that the tissue cannot heal and will die. You will need this to be removed and cleaned out (root canal).

Swelling: "pulp" = nerve and blood vessel chamber in the center of a tooth. "it is" = inflammation (swelling). Usually caused by infection (cavity) or trauma. See your family dentist, perhaps for a referral to an endodontist (root canal specialist) for evaluation and rx if indicated.

Various types: Pulpitis can be either be reversible or irreversible, and the treatment for each is different - reversible can be from decay, biting stress, or other cause which inflames the nerve/blood supply internally. Irreversible pulpitis is the beginning of an abscess, which is only treated by endodontics (root canal therapy) and subsequent restoration, or the tooth has to be extracted.

Inflammation of pulp: There are four stages of pulp disease. Hyperemia, reversible pulpitis, irreversible pulpitis, and necrosis. Teeth with reversible pulpitis are sweet and cold sensitive. Teeth with irreversible pulpitis are cold, hot, and sometimes pressure sensitive. Continued pulpal inflammation results in necrosis, also called a non-vital pulp.

Dental pain: A pulpitis is inflammation in the nerve of the tooth. It can be reversible or irreversible. If reversible with treatment or even in some cases no treatment it will get better. Oftentimes the tooth needs an adjustment because the tooth is hitting too high in the bite. Irreversible pulpitis is infection that may need root canal treatment or extraction to helpit get better.

Pulpitis is painful: Tooth pain is a response to a noxious stimulus to the tissues within the teeth. The pulp tissues include blood vessels(bv)connective tissues, repair cells, and the nerve. The nerve has only one function...Pain. Hot cold sensation comes the gum.A pulpitis is a pain response. Brief short lasting pain means the bv's remove pressure toxins hot/ cold way from the nerve. Longer pain means they don't.

Swollen nerve: Pulpitis is swelling of the nerve within a tooth... Many, many potential causes... It can be reversible initially, and removal of the cause can return the swollen pulp to normal... Over time it can become irreversible, and then root canal therapy is likely indicated ...

Nerve Problem: The term "pulpits" indicates inflammation of the nerves inside a tooth. Sometimes this inflammation comes from an infection (bacteria, cavity), and sometimes it comes from other sources, like trauma. Just like inflammation anywhere else in the body, if sometimes can heal over time...But, often it requires dental treatment. If it lasts more than a few days, it normally needs treatment by a dentist.

Can u say root canal: Usually a root canal is needed...sorry.. But the good news is that you will most likely be able to keep your tooth for many years. Unfortunately, it comes with a high price tag, because a crown and post will most likely be needed in addition to the root canal.

Pulpitis: Pulpitis is an irritation of the nerve in the center of the tooth. It may be either reversible or irreversible. The nerve in the tooth can be bruised ( from grinding, or biting into something hard, or decay) . Sometimes avoiding the tooth, or with medicaments, the nerve will heal. Sometimes, it will continue to deteriorate and further treatment may be necessary.

Pulpitis: Pulpitis means "inflammation of the pulp, or the nerve" of the tooth. There are several different types but the most common is reversible and irreversible Pulpitis. Reversible means the nerve has been traumatized and may heal on its own with time, medicaments or shielding the tooth from trauma (occlusion or biting). Irreversible means that it is not going to get better and will require treatment

Nerve inflammation: Pulpitis is the inflammation of the inside of your tooth (the pulp). The pulp of your tooth contains the blood vessels and the nerves that give your teeth feeling. Pulpitis can be caused by a multitude of different things. Bacteria infection from big cavities is the #1 cause of pulpitis. Other factors can cause pulpitis as well, such as mechanical trauma (ie: falling and hitting your teeth)
