TMJ: Could be TMJ. See oral surgeon for diagnosis. He/she may refer you to TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.

See your PCP: for complete examination and tests. It could be a broad range of problems, like myofacial pain syndrome, or glossopharyngeal neuralgia, etc. The only way to find the cause of your pain is to see a doctor.
