Yes, Appropriate: Dentists are experts in the face as a frame for the smile, teeth and gums. I am sure they are happy to evaluate you and discuss any cosmetic procedures you are thinking about.

Not sure: Your dentist is a good resource sounding board for all facial esthetics. A dentist studies head and neck anatomy and is trained on facial symmetries. If you're talking about breast aug or other cosmetic procedures on your body, then you'd have to ask yourself how casual is your relationship with your dentist. You could certainly ask the question "doc, is it appropriate to ask about x"?

Go ahead-ask!: A good resource is a cosmetic dentist-they often have other leads and contacts for other cosmetic procedures. A good cosmetic dentist can also give you some questions to ask to make sure you get the results you are hoping for. But these things are all minor surgical procedures, so do your homework first. A cosmetic procedure can change your life!

No: Great idea. What you are planning may be enhanced by a dental treatment, or may cause a needed procedure to have to wait. Excellent idea to discuss. I had to delay treatment for a patient who had a facelift. She could not open very much for months.

No!!: Your dentist is part of your health care team, and you should feel comfortable discussing any health question with them.
