Good Seat and Hose: Consider the use of compression hose and/or socks can help minimize swelling, get an aisle or bulkhead seat to stretch legs, drink water to stay hydrated, and encourage getting up to walk during the flight. Once the flight starts, find out if there's a first class seat available...That can't hurt.
