Many possinilities: There are a number of common things that could explain that type of pain such as specific nerve injury from previous broken ribs, or other problems within the abdomen or abdominal wall. Best to see your physician and, if he or she doesn't solve the problem, have them refer you to an interventional pain specialist for an evaluation.

Shingles?: Sounds like an early shingles. Is there any associated skin rash in this area. See a doctor asap as early treatment may reduce later complications. Also, other treatment or investigation may be justified.
