Wrist pain delayed: after injury can be due to a nondisplaced fracture such as in the scaphoid, where intitial xrays were negative, a cartilage or ligament injury, a avulsion injury on the back of the hand with a tiny fracture, a ligament injury between wrist bones, or just a very bad bruise in bone or in the joint. If pain and swelling are present and the cause is unknown then an evaluation and imaging is needed
