A member asked:

I have an inguinal hernia, i also have a medtronic heart pacemaker for an irregular heart beat. my surgeon said i can't have it removed , is that right?

Just because: You have a pacemaker does not mean you cannot have hernia surgery. But i would need much more information on your heart function, ischemia or not & medications. Your cardiologist can review your heart status & risks for surgery & convey that information to your surgeon to better assess your surgical & anesthesia risks for hernia surgery.

Why would you --: Why would you want to remove what? The pacemaker or the hernia? The hernia can certainly be repaired without harming your pacemaker --.
