Asthma: Asthma is very well controlled (and safely) with the use of inhaled corticosteroids. The use of oral steroids has many side effects. There are many ways to treat a disease, make sure she is seeing an asthma specialist. If doing so already, consider seeing another for a second opinion. Or consider a pulmonologist.

See below: Hopefully, she has seen a pulmonary doctor, she should not be on oral Prednisone daily, a lot of side effects. And, she should not be using her rescue inhaler daily. She needs to be on a daily inhaled steroid, if she is not.
