OTC ointment: I'd suggest using a petroleum jelly based ointment like aquaphor (similar in theory to chapstick). If you aren't getting any relief with otc meds, talk to your dermatologist about using a mild topical steroid - you can also find these otc, but it's good to talk with your doc first before trying steroid treatments on the face or other sensitive areas.
