Gastroenteritis: Continue to encourage small amounts of low sugar fluids such as pedialyte. Vomiting can be treated with rx Phenergan (promethazine) or zofran in 5 yo. Monitor closely for signs of dehydration like dry mouth, sunken eyes, lethargy. Avoid otc anti diarrheal meds and encourage bland complex carbohydrate food sources when vomiting resolves. Tylenol/ibuprofen may be used for comfort, can irritate stomach. No aspirin.
