GERD: Sometimes this is associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease. A condition in which the lower esophageal sphincter isn't strong enough to keep stomach acid in the stomach. Acid leaks upward - or sideways if you are laying down - and causes irritation of the GI tract sometims with burping / indigestion.
