What exactly is the best approach to help facet joint syndrome?

Uncertain: Simple measures like exercise, stretching, non-narcotic medication should be tried first. Failing this, injection of anesthetic and cortisone like steroid into the joint or around the nerve to the joint may give relief. If it does, the small nerve can be burned for longer relief, but the nerve tends to grow back. Surgery has not been effective for this problem.

Usually: Usually a routine of regular exercise including core stabilization and weight control while avoiding smoking. Medication and certain procedures through pain management can help including facet rhizotomies if relief is obtained after a facet or medial branch block.
