Milk filled cyst: A galactocele is a cyst that can form in a woman's breast after pregnancy, even if she is not breastfeeding, and is due to a blocked milk duct. They are not serious, although sometimes a biopsy may be necessary for a definite diagnosis. They are also not harmful to the baby, and breastfeeding can sometimes help them to resove by emptying the milk from the cyst.

Mild duct cyst: A galactocele represents a milk duct in the breast that is blocking the expression of milk. Because it is trapped, the continued secretion of milk into the duct results in swelling and formation of a "cyst" that is full of milk. Heated compresses and warm showers, with continued breastfeeding is advised.
