Easy: Draw an (imaginery) line between the top of you hipbones across your lower abdomen. Your ovaries are about 1/4 of the way from the hipbone, about 1-2" below the line. Pain above your pelvic bone is closer to your bladder than your ovaries.

See the picture: You have two ovaries..One on each side of the lower areas of of your belly. It is hard to tell what is causing your pain from the limited information provided in your question. If the pain is serere, sudden in onset and radiating down to the groin area, you could be passing a kidney stone. Also, ovulation can give a sudden pain, but usually begin to ease in few hours. Consult doc. Good luck.
