Yes: Lysine is considered a category c medication, meaning some animal studies may suggest problems in fetal growth but no human studies to date have done so.This classification applies to those using it as a dietary supplement. As with any supplement your OB should be made aware of ant preparation you take.

Why?: Lysine was thought to help treat herpes simplex because in tissue culture it creates a lower yield of virus. Not at all clear that it does anything in people. Canker sores are not of herpetic or other viral origin and I am not of any knowledge that lysine works for these either.
