May be strep throat: Fever, sore throat, and swollen neck nodes (glands) may be strep throat. A quick throat swab test can tell in 5 minutes, if strep germs are there. If strep, then antibiotics are needed. Some viral infections can also have these symptoms, but viral infections are not treated with antibiotics.
