A member asked:

Could my gyno tell if i had chlamydia by looking at sample under microscope? she said it looked like bv, but did all tests for sti's.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Chlamydia: Urinalysis is not effective. There are numerous tests on urine and body fluids that can identify chlamydia. These include nucleic acid amplification, hybridization, elisa assay, direct fluorescent antibody and chlamydial culture. The DFA is done under a microscope and can also detect chlamydial antigen.
