What are some advantages of arthroscopic surgery?

Quick Recovery: Small incisions. Outpatient surgery. Minimal general anesthesia due to short surgery time and use of regional nerve blocks. Quick recovery. Less pain. Minimal surgical risks. High success rates.

Less pain/invasive: Being less invasive arthroscopic procedures are generally less painful early in the recovery process. Infection rates generally lower with smaller incisions and constant irrigation that is hallmark of an arthroscopic procedure. Most arthroscopic procedures can be performed on outpatient basis. In some joints visualization is clearly superior when performed arthroscopically as apposed to opened.
