Less pain/invasive: Being less invasive arthroscopic procedures are generally less painful early in the recovery process. Infection rates generally lower with smaller incisions and constant irrigation that is hallmark of an arthroscopic procedure. Most arthroscopic procedures can be performed on outpatient basis. In some joints visualization is clearly superior when performed arthroscopically as apposed to opened.
