You can: But, personally, i think there are more effective treatments. I think oral meds if not contraindicated will work better and faster for the gout. For tendonitis it is fine.

Gout: Since gout is an extreme form of inflammation, topical anti-inflammatories are usually not sufficient to quell the inflammation. Oral or injectable medicines are more appropriate. As far as the sprain, rather than just treat the inflammation, physical therapy is more appropriate to assist in healing the tissues.
