Sometimes.: Its not uncommon to have transient shoothing pain after whitening your teeth. Avoid hot and cold liquids and foods, use sensitivity toothpaste, and take advil (ibuprofen) to help. The discomfort will diminish in a couple of days.

Common: Any whitening products containing peroxides can cause what we call "zingers, " or shooting pains, usually just the day of application. Some people are more sensitive to it than others. Try using sensitivity toothpastes for a few weeks before attempting whitening and during the weeks of your whitening applications. Ibuprofen helps afterward also. Skip days between and don't wear longer than directed.

Stop strips: You should stop using the strips and see a dentist soon to establish if there is decay in any area that needs attention.
