To be specific, if the ultrasound dates 6 weeks, 3 days, and dates conception, is it possible for the conception date to be off by 8 or 10 more days?

Bit of a stretch: To be specific, are you further along or less far along than expected? Was fetal heart activity seen? If you are supposed to be 8 weeks and a 6 week 3 day size fetus is seen without fetal heart activity i would worry about fetal demise. In such a case i would repeat the ultrasound in a week and verify fetal life or not.
