See physician: Should get this looked at soon. Painless lumps are usually not infections or other simple problems. Was this a lump that changed or was there nothing there 5 days ago? Could be a muscle hernia if it disappears when you lie down. In general, all hard painless lumps should be checked out to be sure that they are not abnormal tissue.
