Twisted wrist: If there is no fracture - then it sounds like you may be having symptoms of crps (rsd) i would strongly suggest that you see first your pmd and then a pain specialist, any delay in treatmnet is not good.

Sprain: Rice, rest, (ice), compression, and elevation . I would try the other three measures and perhaps indirect ice. Even water spritzing a splint and freezing the splint can give you a more gentle cooling of the wrist. Typically mild sprains take 4-6 weeks to resolve, but increasing or persistent pain merits an x-ray.

Evaluation needed: I recommend that you see a hand surgeon as you may have injured yourself beyond a sprain. History and physical exam performed by an experienced hand surgeon will help to determine if there are any more serious injuries. A simple x-ray can determine if there are any fractures and if necessary further imaging may be necessary for ligament tears. If it is just a sprain recovery can take 3-6 wk.
