A member asked:

What is inflammation of the brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cellular reaction: The white cells in our body react to toxic agents in a process that results in inflammation. Toxic material in bacteria, viruses, foreign tissue, etc can set off this inflammation. In the brain this can occur focally in an abscess, in brain cells as encephalitis, in the lining of the brain as meningitis, or any combination of these. Spinal fluid or brain biopsy best documents this inflammation.
