Yes and no: Cold sores are of bacterial origin but herpes is a virus. Either can be passed by contact so you should refrain from contact.

Yes: If you have cold sore blisters it is best not to share eating utensils, chap sticks or lips sticks or kiss in order to prevent spreading the infection to someone else.
