Shave with the grain: I'm assuming that you are talking about shaving the face. Prepare the beard by showering with hot water to soften and moisten the hair. Use an oil to lubricate and then a shaving cream. Only shave with or across the grain -- never against the grain. If a hair is cut too short, then it may turn sideways and irritate or infect. Bottom line: a "good" shave is really only "fair" shave if done right.
