A member asked:

How long do opiates stay in the bloodstream?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the med: Most short acting narcotics (percocet, vicodin etc) last about 3-4 hours. Most long acting narcotics (ms contin, Opana er, oxycontin) last 8-12 hours and the duragesic/fentanyl patches last 72 hours. Any narcotic can persist in your bloodstream for one week to one month depending on how well your kidneys and liver filter out toxins.
