Small quantities: Yes, some topical chemicals are small enough to absorb into the blood stream. Think about a nicotine or birth control patch that delivers small chemicals to the blood. Typically, the majority of the chemicals in skin lotion are too big to enter the blood steam at any significant level so no need to worry, however it is not a bad idea to know what you are putting on your skin and in your body.
