How you can get pink eye in only one eye?

5 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Infected one side: Pink eye is the common term for viral infection of the eye. It may affect one eye but commonly affects both. The eye is red, has a clear discharge, may be a little swollen, sometimes is light sensitive and usually is irritated but not painful. Since it is infectious, others around you might also have the same thing or you may spread yours to them.

It may only be: spread to one eye. Sometimes infection is one eye can be transmitted to the other eye.
