Many causes: There are many potential causes. Likely a urologist is needed to help evaluate. Cancers of the genitourinary (gu) tract need to be ruled out including kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate cancer (in men). Other non-cancerous causes may cause blood in the urine including kidney stones.

Multiple causes: Prostate enlargement, stones (even with no other symptoms), tumors, kidney disease, prior pelvic radiation. I strongly recommend an evaluation as soon as possible for anyone who sees blood in their urine.
