Risk factors...: Risk factors for heart attack include: smoking, uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled cholesterol, sedentary lifestyle. Males and post-menopausal females are at higher risk as well as family history of a heart attack at a younger age. Diabetes was always thought of as a risk factor but new evidence suggests that well-controlled diabetes is probably not a risk factor.

Everyone: As we age the risk certainly increases. It increases with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, tobacco use and family history. Unfortunately the first manifestation of heart disease is a heart attack without warning. Know your risk factors.
