Fluids and Carbs: It is wise to avoid spicy, acidic, and high-fat foods during illness with nausea/vomiting. Very restricted diet is not recommended because it will limit your calorie intake. Recovery from some symptoms can be calorie-dependent, so emphasize complex carbohydrates and dont be too restrictive. With diarrhea, avoid high sugar drinks (milk, juice), can increase gas, pain and number of stools.
