Depends: Pins-and-needles or tingling in the fingertips can be caused by nerve compression, which can occur peripherally (i.e., carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel) or in your neck (i.e., radiculopathy). Sometimes cramping of the thumb can occur. Both complaints can be further evaluated by an orthopaedist or hand surgeon. Further studies may be required to assist in the diagnosis.
