Cushioning: It could be a lot of different things, but try additional cushioning in your shoes first. If the problem persists, see a local podiatrist.

Off-loading: Off-load it with cushions in your shoes or inserts. The pain the ball of your feet or swelling to the ball of your feet could be metatarsalgia, stress fracture, ligament tear, sesmoiditis, etc but usually first line treatment it off-loading with cushion inserts and taking antiinflammatory medication.
