A member asked:

Is there a connection between lung cancer and thoracic or chest cancer?

HERE IT IS: 1st: nothing such as thoracic or chest cancer. Both are anatomical descriptions of the area above the diaphgram. There are many cancers that can occur in this area ei: esophageal, lung, lymphoma and thymoma to name a few. So the only correlation is that lung cancer occurs and is found in the thoracic/chest area.

Agree other physicia: Lung cancer is one of many cancers that occur in the thorax/"chest". Please rephrase question if this does not answer adequately. Like many other cancers in other parts/regions of the body, lung cancers and esophageal cancers in individual patients are often associated with risk factors (i.e. Family history, smoking, obesity, etc). Be well.
