Yes...: If the bacteria in your mouth gets into your bloodstream, you can end up with sepsis. This may not happen but it is a possibility so follow up with your dentist asap. Call your doctor or go to the er if you develop symptoms of infection like fever, chills, malaise, etc.

Bacteremia: Please see a dentist for completion of any root canal that has been started but not finished, whether it is painful or not. Bacteria from a root canal may cause sepsis but typically go through a series of painful infection and inflammation events first.
