: It largely depends on the cause of the floaters. Gradual changes in a healthy aging eye may have the floaters persisting for years. Floaters due to blood in diabetes or a retinal tear can resolve in months with proper treatment. After vitreous separation they can resolve in months. Myopic eyes often develop floaters early in life which persist for years.
