Trial and error: If you do not know, put them in and check your vision. If it is not clear, reverse them and try again. Most contacts have no identifying marks on them.

Systematic method: The contact prescription will label the correct eye. Contact lens cases also label the correct eye, so you need to follow a systematic method in order to distinguish r and l.
