Yes: If your are nearsighted (myopic), have astigmatism, or have different prescriptions for your two eye you will need a prescription from your eye doctor.

No.: Prescription glasses correct a specific persons specific refractive error and by definition requires a doctor to determine what the need is and write the proper prescription.
