How long does it take to know results of your thyroid biopsy?

Can vary: It depends upon where it is sent & how much testing is done. In-town pathologists will usually give an report in 1-3 working days; out-of-town pathologists in 2-5 working days. If genetic analysis is being done as well, this can take 1-2 weeks.

Varies: Thyroid biopsies can be difficult to interpret and may need to be sent for a second opinion pathology review. The results could take days or weeks therefore.

One or two days: A typical evaluation of thyroid tissue, whether through fine needle aspiration, biopsy or surgical excision, often takes 1-2 days. Occasional more difficult cases may take several days longer.
