Can be: The paste made with water can soothe the sting site for a while but the main component of a bee sting is mellitin which is a protein that is basic in chemistry and may not be greatly affected in the long run by the baking soda paste which can act in a acid or base way. However, many people swear by it. Other stings contains acidic components like formic acid (fire ants) and the paste will help!
