Retinoids: The vitamin a derivatives such as Retin-A ( tretinoin) do sometimes make acne a bit worse worse before it improves. Usually after two weeks of routine use things turn around and then they help acne dramatically. Other acne med don't cause flares, but the results from retinoids usually pay off.
