Need to take meds: We have become quite good at managing HIV in pregnancy. It is extremely important that you stay on your meds as this will reduce the chances of the baby getting the disease.

This knowledge can help the obstetrician to be prepare for the deliver by treating the mother's viral infection with good HIV medications and then continuing the baby on them for some time after the birth. It is now rare for a baby to become infected with hiv.
