Canker = Aphthous : Researchers are not sure of the cause of aphthous ulcers. There is no known preventive measure. Treatment is palliative with low level laser therapy able to relieve pain & accelerate healing with about 5 minutes of treatment. Biolase waterlase works well of lasers I have tried. Herpes is another possible ulcer. Oral cancer can also be an ulcer. See your dentist to find the right diagnosis.

Topical cream: Typical ulcerations can be treated with oral creams such as orabase that will treat the symptoms until it resolves. Laser dentists, such as myself, typically use the waterlase laser to treat the ulcer which speeds up the healing time.
