Laser: If you see your dentist he or she can use diode laser to zap the ulcer which stops the pain, cuts the cycle in half. It works great!

Keep the area clean: I assume the mouth ulcer is so-called canker sore whick will heal in 7-10 days if it is not infected secondarily. Keeping the area clean via thorough oral hygeine is by far the most useful remedy. Avoid spicy food, rinse after each meal, and apply topical anesthetics if pain is severe. Good rest is also helpful because stress and immunity play big roles in this disease.

Best: Stay Healthy: If it is a viral/herpes type ulcer, it will just take time to go away. Staying healthy so you can heal quickly will help. In the mean time, paliative treatments (make it more comfortable) such as zilactin, oragel may help.

Remedy: Topical Benzocaine will work to temporarily sooth the ulcer. Is this an isolated episode? Do ulcers occur in your mouth often? If so, this suggests another condition. Warm salt water rinses will help. Get the ulcer diagnosed to determine the cause and appropriate treatment.

Depending on the : Cause of the lesion, most are self limiting and heal typically in about ten days. Symptomatic treatment / relief can be attained using Benzocaine in orabase (available over the counter) or some topical numbing agent. Ask your pharmacy or dentist. If the ulcer is due to an infective tooth related area - see your dentist promptly. Hope this helps.
