Quickly: Generally speaking 24-48 hours for the epithelium to heal a corneal abrasion or "scratch". Other factors can contribute to healing time but usually the eye heals quickly from a simple abrasion.

I agree: Yes, corneal abraisions are painful but heal quickly. You should be taking a topical antibiotic such as zymaxid to prevent the abraision from developing into a corneal ulcer.. Patching the eyelid closed helps the discomfort.
